U14 Girls Hockey Team Crowned County Champions

The U14 Girls Hockey team travelled to Culford with determination and focus, aiming to defend their County title after last year’s success. With four returning players bringing valuable experience, the squad set their sights on bringing the title back to Ipswich High.
Match 1: Ipswich High 3-2 Culford
The opening match saw a strong start against hosts Culford. A dominant first-half performance put Ipswich High 2-0 ahead. Culford responded with a goal on the break, but Lara quickly restored the two-goal cushion with an outstanding solo effort, dribbling through the defence to score. Culford added a late goal, but Ipswich held on for a well-deserved 3-2 victory.
Match 2: Ipswich High 1-0 RHS
In a closely contested battle against RHS, the team displayed excellent resilience and composure. After excellent build-up play from the right-hand side, Sophie calmly slotted the ball into the backboard, securing another win.
Match 3: Ipswich High 6-0 Finborough
Confidence continued to grow as the team dominated their third match. They played with flair and fluidity, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Goals came from Lara (2), Jemma, Evelyn, Amelia, Annabel, and Sophie in an impressive 6-0 performance.
Match 4: Ipswich High 0-0 Woodbridge
The final fixture was against an organised Woodbridge side, whom Ipswich had previously beaten 2-0. Despite several scoring chances and sustained pressure, the match ended in a goalless draw.
Remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament, the girls were deservedly crowned County Champions.
This exceptional group of players has shown not only technical skill and determination, but also the true value of teamwork, hard work, and unity. Congratulations to the squad and good luck at Regionals in November!
