The Astonishing Story of Mary Alice Berners of Woolverstone Hall
Thursday 23rd June 2022
An illustrated talk concerning the life and times of Mary Alice Berners, the eldest daughter of Charles Hugh Berners, is to be held at their former home Woolverstone Hall.
Local historian Simon Pearce will talk about Mary who was born into a life of wealth and privilege. Following her own path, she married in secret and travelled thousands of miles between England, India and the Far East as an officer’s wife. Tragedy was never far away with the loss of a child, divorce, and the death of close family during the Great War. Find out more about Mary Alice Berners’ life during this fascinating evening being held in the hall she once called home.
All profits from ticket sales will go towards the restoration of the historic Woolverstone Hall cricket pavilion.
