U13 Rugby Success

On Thursday 6th of March, the U13 rugby team travelled to St James School, London to compete in the ISA 7s tournament.
With the whole squad now having some experience in 7-a-side rugby, the team were expecting to perform well throughout the day, and they certainly delivered.
Good ball movement and support play were at the forefront of the teamโs attack, and they scored some fantastic tries and seemed to convert consistently whenever they were in possession. The biggest progression throughout the day was in their defence, where they worked tirelessly for each other. Every player made huge strides in their understanding of our defensive shape and structure.
The big group game was against local rivals Finborough and the team performed incredibly well, running away with the game 25-15 which put them in a great position to reach the finals. With 4 more wins in the group, they played against Westonbirt for the chance to win the National Cup.
In a tight game where nerves were high, lots of mistakes occurred from both teams and scores were traded, meaning the half time score was 10-10. However, two quick tries after the break by I.H.S put the team in control. They remained composed and created a huge amount of pressure from defence, and we ran out winners 20-15 to claim the Cup. In total the boys scored 180 points and conceded just 55 points in 6 games.
A great effort for the team but what a moment in the schoolโs history to have one year group win an ISA National competition for the boys and the girls in the same school year!
