Swimming Success for IHS pupils!

Swimming Success! By Mrs Julie Catchpole, Peri Swimming Teacher
South East Final
Last week, we hosted the South East Final for both our U14 and O14 teams. They took part against 6 other schools and the swimming was of a very high standard. We finished joint 4th in the O14 and 5th in the U14.
We would like to thank all our helpers without whom this event would not run as smoothly as it does.
A special mention goes to Mrs Craske who comes in specifically to help us.
The squad: Tarek S, Kanzi S, Alex G, Noah E, Elise C, Ethan T, Emily K, Sophie K, Amelie C, Lily S, Amelia B, Ivy F, Chloe K and Ivy D.
ISA Nationals at the Queen Elizabeth Pool Stratford and 16 Medals!
Last Friday, 13 pupils from school represented not just the school but also the East Anglian team at the ISA Nationals. For some, it was the first time they had ever swum in a 50m pool and at such a large venue.
The medals came thick and fast with Oscar achieving a bronze in the individual breaststroke followed by Kanzi and Tarek both achieving a bronze. In the medley relay event Oscar, Alex, Ethan, and Tarek all won bronze and Lily won a silver medal.
In the afternoon our Swim Captain Amelie started the afternoon with a silver medal in the individual 100m freestyle. Lily followed with a gold medal in the 50m fly. The last event of the afternoon was the freestyle relay and Emelia won gold with the Year 6 girls team followed by Albert who won bronze with the Year 6 boys’ team.
Alex and Oscar won a silver medal with the Year 7 team along with Lily who swam with the Year 9 team. The last race of the afternoon saw Ethan and Tarek win a bronze medal.
Chloe, Annabelle, Jemma and Isla were unfortunate to finish in 4th and 5th place in their age group in the freestyle relay.
We would like to thank all the parents for their support on the day and say a very big well done to all the swimmers who took part in this event.
