Stage One Of Cricket Pavilion Restoration Has Been Completed

Ipswich High School is delighted to announce that the first stage in the restoration of its historic cricket pavilion has been completed.

After 127 years standing, the building needed a considerable amount of TLC and most urgently the thatched roof needed be restored to prevent further deterioration of the original external and internal structure. Sudbury-based, Brett Vale Thatchers took on the task of repairing the roof thatch and worked tirelessly during the summer to complete the first stage of our restoration project.

Fundraising for the cricket pavilion restoration really picked up pace over the summer term. The highly successful golf day has been the major contributor, but this has been added to by donations via our gofundme page, as well as the sale of Woolverstone Hall prints, Woolverstone Hall School (WHS) photos and fundraising activities within school.

Ipswich High School also hosted a WHS reunion where alumni from the boys school met for a game of cricket on the lawn in front of the Grade I listed building, followed by dinner and dancing. It was during this reunion that the WHS Old Boys donated ยฃ500 to the cricket pavilion fund, and another Old Boy, who wanted to remain anonymous. donated an additional ยฃ500 which took us to our phase 1 fundraising total of ยฃ4250.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated thus far to help us reaching our first fundraising goal. The second phase will see the painting and restoration of the interior and exterior woodwork.
