At Ipswich High School, we are dedicated to providing exceptional sporting opportunities that inspire, challenge, and develop young athletes.
At Ipswich High School, we are committed to developing young athletes by providing elite coaching across multiple sports. Our Sports Excellence Programme offers pupils in Years 6-9 the chance to train with top-level coaches and take their game to the next level. This dedicated programme is offered in addition to our Enrichment Programme, giving pupils even more opportunity to pursue their passions and reach their potential.
Currently, the programme includes Cricket, Football, Hockey, Netball, and Rugby, with further sports planned. Whether your child is looking to refine their technique, build confidence, or gain high-level training experience, our expert coaching team is here to help them excel.
The Sports Excellence Programme will run on Fridays after school from 4:00pm – 5:30pm.

Hockey Coaching with Sam Beveridge
We are proud to welcome Sam Beveridge to our Sports Excellence Programme. As a Coach Developer for Great Britain Hockey, Sam plays a key role in shaping the next generation of elite coaches and athletes. With a 17-year teaching background and current extensive experience managing England and Great Britain Women’s Teams at Olympics and world level events, Sam brings exceptional insight into high-performance environments. Sam has worked extensively with the U21 and Elite Development Programme squads since 2016. Her coaching focuses on developing intelligent, adaptable players and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, both on and off the pitch.

Football with SJ Football Coaching
We are thrilled to welcome Simon Jackson, a fully qualified professional coach, holding the prestigious UEFA A License and the Full FA Youth Award, awarded by the English Football Association. He is the founder of SJ Football Coaching and will lead our Football Excellence Programme.

Cricket Coaching with Southall Cricket Coaching
Our cricket coaching is delivered in partnership with Ipswich Cricket Club and led by Rob Southall, alongside County cricketer Evie Booker. Rob is the current U16 Suffolk girls’ lead coach and previous Men’s Performance Coach. A former England Physical Disability cricketer with over a decade of coaching experience across schools, clubs, and county environments, Rob brings a unique perspective and dynamic coaching style. His sessions focus on player development, performance, and unlocking potential all supported by the outstanding facilities at Ipswich Cricket Club.

Netball Coaching with HG Netball
We are excited to introduce Hayley Greenhill, Suffolk Athlete Identifier Lead and Head Coach of Suffolk Rockets, to our Sports Excellence Programme. A Level 2 coach with extensive experience in performance netball, Hayley plays a key role in the England Netball Performance Pathway. Her coaching focuses on developing individual and team performance, nurturing talent, and preparing athletes to progress with the ultimate goal of representing England Netball.
