Rugby Success

After years of practice, development, wins and losses, the Year 11-13 boys became the first 1st XV that has represented the school in its co-educational history!

With new match kits for all our Sixth Form teams, the enthusiasm has been really high with great numbers attending games and enrichment sessions. The team travelled to Norwich School to play against their U17 team, and after a highly focused and intense warm up, were ready to start the game with a bang.

Harry, Flynn and Fred led the way in defence in the early stages and allowed the team to generate pressure and subsequently win plenty of turnovers. The strong running of Harry, Ollie and Sylvester put the team on the front foot and they were rewarded 20 minutes in with the first try by Max which was converted by Louie.

Whilst we continued to nullify Norwichโ€™s attack, a few errors crept in when we were in possession with some loose offloading, but our chances kept coming and Sylvester scored making the half time score 12-7 to I.H.S. After half time substitutes and some positional changes, the I.H.S team kept on the front foot and continued to dominate possession and scoring opportunities.

It was in the second half where both Louie and Ollie led to attack, moving the ball quickly to space stretching the Norwich defence and Sylvester scored a second, quickly followed by Louie Spaul.

However, what Mr Collishaw and I were most proud about was even when the result was decided after those two tries the boys maintained their defensive efforts and did not allow Norwich to score again. The final result was 24-7 to I.H.S.

A huge well done to the team who are as follows: Max, Zac, Flynn, Harry, Fred, Arthur, Harry, Ethan, Arran (Captain), Louie, Sylvester, Oliver, Harry, Arthur, Adam, Charlie, Toby and Thomas.

The boys head to The Perse School, Cambridge, on Tuesday for their next fixture.
