Prep Young Musician of the Year Competition

The Prep School was delighted to welcome families and students to our annual Young Musician of the Year on Tuesday, 3rd March. We had amazing performances across each of the categories, Novice, Grades 1 and 2, and Grades 3 and above, and it was lovely to see the pride on the pupils’ faces after they had played, and to hear the progress they have each made.
From violin to oboe, harp to electric guitar, and of course piano, each student who performed gained house points for their respective House. We will announce the House Music Cup after next week’s Prep Vocal Championships!
We are grateful to our adjudicator, Mrs Hattie Bennett, who had the unenviable task of choosing place winners – she did say how difficult the task was, evidenced in all our Judge’s Commendations! Hattie has been instrumental in fostering and encouraging the love of music in children. She reminded our students that learning to play an instrument is a lifelong skill that they will be able to take with them wherever they go! Hattie was impressed not only by the children’s musical ability, but also by the confidence each of them displayed, being willing to perform in front of so many people. Learning an instrument is a collaborative journey involving the children, supportive parents, and, of course, our dedicated Peripatetic Music teachers.
Congratulations to our 2026 Winners
