Under 11s Boys Hockey Tournament

By Mr Peter Wright, Sports Coach.
The sun was shining, and the boys were filled with excitement, ready to take on the challenge ahead. However, their start was shaky, quickly conceding a goal against Orwell Park. Undeterred, they regrouped with determination. A brilliant attacking play by Albert, Will, and Hew earned them a short corner, which Noah confidently drilled into the bottom left cornerโbringing the game level.
Next up was Woodbridge, a tightly contested match with both teams creating chances. Crucial tackles from Daniel and Henry kept the opposition at bay, resulting in a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
Then came the much-anticipated rematch against Framlingham, who were out for revenge. Despite Rufus making several key saves, he could only hold them off for so long. An unfortunate moment saw his foot caught on the turf, allowing Framlingham to break through and score. The boys responded by settling into their rhythm, trusting the build-up play through Noah and out wide to Rasmus and Will to generate chances. But with only 10 minutes on the clock, time ran out before they could turn the game around, ending in a 0-2 defeat.
Finishing third in the group on goal difference, the boys advanced into the Plate competition, ready to fight on.
Everything started to click. The team found their rhythm, linking up beautifully from the backline through midfield. Oli and Hewโs relentless pressing up front created chances, and both Noah and Rasmus capitalised, calmly slotting their shots into the back of the net. A well-earned 2-0 victory over OBH.
Then came the final match of the day against Barnadiston. The boys dominated possession, pressing high and creating chance after chance, but struggled to find the finishing touch. In a cruel twist, Barnadiston seized on a rare mistake and capitalized with a quick breakaway, scoring their only opportunity of the game. A tough 0-1 loss.
Despite the result, a lot was learned throughout the day. You should all be proud of the development you showed, which was evident in the last two games. Well done!
