Ipswich High School hosts the National ISA Triathlon

Ipswich High School proudly hosted the ISA National Triathlon on Friday 1st May, marking the fourth year this prestigious event has taken place within our beautiful school grounds. Our excellent facilities once again provided the perfect setting, with competitors swimming first before moving into the transition area onto a cycle course around the front field, and finishing with a demanding run up to and around Church Field.
The competition opened with the Youth category (15+) and concluded with the youngest age group competing in Tri Start (8 years old this year). In total, 173 athletes from schools across the country took part, making the event a fantastic showcase of youth triathlon.
Ipswich High School was once again one of the largest schools represented, with 40 pupils from Year 3 to Year 9 competing throughout the day. Pupils have been training hard through our Thursday Triathlon enrichment programme as well as additional training sessions held in preparation for the event. Their commitment and enthusiasm were evident in every race.
Our pupils delivered some excellent performances, with several finishing in the top ten of their respective races:
Tri Start:
Cooper C – 8th
Tri Star 1:
Fynn G – 3rd
Anya F– 5th
Nate D – 9th
Ollie B– 10th
Tri Star 2:
Albert O’C – 7th
William B– 10th
In Tri Star 2, our girls dominated the event, placing consecutively from 12th to 19th.
Tri Star 3:
Isla M – 3rd
Alex G – 4th
Molly S – 6th
Darcy D – 8th
A huge thank you must go to the caretaking and events teams for their exceptional work in setting up and supporting the event. Special thanks also to our sports scholars who helped marshal the course, our parent helpers, and the PE department, who organised and managed the competition throughout the day. Together, they ensured another highly successful ISA National Triathlon at Ipswich High School.
