Cambridge Trip

By Sunny L
On 22nd January, a group of both Sixth Form students with an interest in Oxbridge applications and Year 11 GCSE Religious Studies students had the exciting opportunity to visit Cambridge for a day trip.
The day kicked off with two insightful lectures. The first was delivered by a former student from the Faculty of Divinity, who provided an overview of the structure of Oxbridge undergraduate Humanities course. This was followed by a lecturer who specialises in Theology discussing a conundrum in the Bible on Jesusโs baptism.
Both talks gave us a fascinating glimpse into academic life as a Cambridge student.
After the lectures, we set off on a scenic tour of Cambridge, making our way to St. Catharineโs College โ a hidden gem known for its blend of historic charm and modern amenities.
Founded in 1473, St. Catharineโs (or โCatzโ) is home to around five hundred undergraduate students and is known for its warm, inclusive atmosphere.
The college features a striking combination of traditional and modern architecture, with facilities like a gym, libraries, music rooms, and even a bar for chilling or partying.
We also had the opportunity to ask our tour guides many questions regarding campus life and the application process, which provided great advice for us as potential applicants.
The day wrapped up with the tour, and we made our way back to Ipswich High School, reflecting on an enriching and inspiring visit to one of the worldโs most prestigious universities.
