ERSA Ski Race Success for Ipswich High School pupils

On Sunday 19th April, 13 pupils from Ipswich High School, represented the school superbly at the ERSA Ski Race held at Norfolk Ski Centre.10 pupils from the Prep School raced in the morning meeting in Norwich for an 8 am warm up.
The 10 pupils made up three school teams. All pupils raced as individuals as well as part of a team. The fastest time went to the overall ranking. Harry Lees in Year 6 came 3rd in his age group.
The team race required two of the racers in each team to complete a clean run. Unfortunately only the Under 10 team consisting of Katie, Alfred and Felicity managed to achieve this. There were a range of school competing from across the region and the opposition was strong. All pupils approached the races with enthusiasm, determination and excellent sportsmanship, making it a very successful start to the day. For a number of pupils – this race was their first experience of ski racing.
In the afternoon, three senior pupils Lillian (Year 7), Dan (Year 8) and Madeleine (Year 12) competed individually, demonstrating confidence, resilience and technical skill on the slope. Their performances were a credit to both their commitment to training and their support of one another throughout the event. Congratulations yo Madeleine who came 1st in the female race and 2nd overall in the Under 18 category.
Well done to all pupils involved for representing the school so positively, and thank you to who all the parents for their support to this sport.
