Engineering Sparks Joy and Resilience in Our Prep School Curriculum!

This term, Engineering has truly come alive in our prep school classrooms- Pupils have been involved in real-world problem-solving tasks that are not only fun but also build essential skills like critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.
What makes this approach so powerful? We focus on the process, not just the outcome. Children are encouraged and rewarded for how they tackle challenges—developing resilience and confidence along the way. These experiences help them see that mistakes are part of learning, and perseverance leads to success.
Our pupils have loved every moment! From short, timed construction challenges in Year 3, to coding with LEGO League robots in Year 6, and Year 5 completing the YSA Junior STEMM Award program, the excitement has been contagious. Year 3 even designed their own Shaduf as part of their Egyptian topic—combining history with engineering ingenuity!
Adding to the buzz, our school is now a proud host for VEX IQ Robotics coaching fixtures, giving pupils even more opportunities to explore robotics and teamwork. Another fixture is already scheduled for January, and we can’t wait!
Engineering in the curriculum isn’t just about building things—it’s about building skills for life. And judging by the smiles and enthusiasm in our classrooms, we’re on the right track!
