A day to remember at Lille Christmas Market

By Mme Christelle Savary, Head of MFL
Last week, our students had the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in French culture during a festive trip to Lilleโ€™s famous Christmas market. The trip was a perfect blend of learning, fun, and holiday cheer, giving pupils the chance to put their French language skills into practice while soaking up the magical atmosphere of the season.

We were very lucky with the weather โ€“ the sun shone brightly all day, adding to the joy and excitement. The children had a fabulous time exploring the bustling market stalls, chatting with local vendors in French, and discovering unique gifts to bring home. Many of them indulged in the delicious French treats on offer, with macarons proving to be a firm favourite โ€“ plenty were bought (and eaten)! Beyond the shopping and treats, this trip provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to experience French culture firsthand. They sampled a variety of traditional foods and took part in small conversations, which helped build their confidence and practical speaking skills.

It was a truly unforgettable day, filled with festive excitement, cultural exploration, and plenty of laughter. We look forward to more opportunities like this in the future.
