The People Behind Ipswich High School – Mr Tom Collishaw

At Ipswich High School, each week we will focus on celebrating one member of our community. This initiative will highlight the diverse contributions of both teaching and support staff, offering students, parents and colleagues a deeper appreciation for thepeople who make the school flourish. This week we learn more about Mr Collishaw, our Director of Boarding & Pastoral.

Since September 2023.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO JOIN THE IHS COMMUNITY?
It was too good an opportunity to miss.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT WORKING AT IHS?
Pupils are so talented and enjoy chatting with you. My favourite part of the day is lunch time , not because I get to eat, but because I do duty and get to see every pupil in the school including the prep. We are lucky to work with such great pupils.
To add, we have very talented staff. I love watching staff teach, I
genuinely get inspired by them.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MEMORY FROM WORKING AT IHS?
Playing the Gingerbread Man, Shrek performance, Roslyn Park Rugby 7’s, House Performance, too many great memories already.

Getting an article written about me for the Department of Education.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD AT IHS?
Seeing the successful journeys of young people. We have such talented young people who will go on to do amazing things that impact the world.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY DOING OUTSIDE OF WORK?
Still enjoy playing cricket. I also enjoy watching my children perform in music and sport. My son William is a terrific but modest sportsman, who inspires me everyday with his commitment and skill.

Katsu curry, however the break time sausage roll is sensational – epic!
