Matron

Full time, term time plus 10 days
Salary range: £18,500 – £22,500, dependent upon qualifications and experience

Ipswich High School is a leading independent school in Suffolk, proudly educating hundreds of pupils between the ages of 3 – 18. Based on a beautiful 84 acre campus, five miles outside of Ipswich, the school has long enjoyed a high profile across the region for its academic success and superb pastoral care.  The School is in an exciting new phase, part of which is the introduction of boarding in September 2019.

We seek to appoint a Matron for our brand new boarding house which will open in September.  Matron will be a key residential position in the boarding house, consequently, the successful candidate will assist the House Parents in providing excellent pastoral care for our teenage boarders.  He/she will be a responsible and caring person, who will enjoy working and living in our school community.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to form professional relationships with teenagers
  • A sympathetic and understanding approach with a good sense of humour
  • Supervisory skills would be an advantage as she/he will be supervising the domestic staff

The Matron’s main responsibilities are to support the House Parents by ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of all boarders, as well to ensure the smooth running of the domestic and laundry arrangements of the House.  The Matron requires understanding and empathy, and the ability to balance a friendly disposition with the need to help maintain discipline.

This rewarding role provides school accommodation all year round for the successful candidate.

Cleaning Supervisor with Key Holder Duties

£9.93 per hour
Monday to Thursday 16:30 to 20.30 & Fridays 15.30 – 19.30
Plus lock up duties on a rostered basis.

We are looking to recruit a strong line manager to oversee our cleaning team and undertake security duties on weekday evenings.

You will have had previous successful experience in managing others as well as understanding cleaning processes, with good administrative skills including stock ordering and management.

Essential to the role is an understanding of Health and Safety requirements and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations 2002.

Ipswich High School is located within 84 acres in Woolverstone near Ipswich, Suffolk with 6 buildings to maintain on a daily basis throughout the year.
