Ipswich High School governor Simon LetmanWe are delighted to formally introduce our new Chair of Governors from January 2019, Dr Simon Letman.

Dr Letman will be taking over this important position from our outgoing Chair of Governors, John Pickering who has been on the Governing Board for 13 years and has been an outstanding Chair for the last three of these. John was due to step down last year, but agreed to uphold his role as Chair during the school’s move to new owners. The Governing Board and the rest of the school would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to John for all of his support and hard work in the role. We are pleased to say he will stay on the Governing Board for a few further meetings, to aid Dr Letman’s transition as Chair.

Although there are big shoes to fill, we are sure Dr Letman’s extensive experience in the education sector will hold him in good stead. Dr Letman is currently Headteacher at Holbrook Academy and has more than 25 years of experience in leadership roles within the independent school sector. He was formally Director of Studies at the Royal Hospital School and Headmaster at Saint Felix School in Southwold.

Like the rest of us at the school, Dr Letman is very excited by the school’s direction including our move towards fully offering the Diamond Model as we welcome boys into the Senior School and our imminent boarding house developments.

We look forward to working alongside Dr Letman and the rest of our Board of Governors, as the school continues its path towards new and exciting developments.
