Established in 1878, Ipswich High School offers a tailored education for boys and girls on our 87-acre campus in rural Suffolk. Our home is Woolverstone Hall, a Palladian Grade I listed mansion built in 1776 standing on the banks of the river Orwell. Our Diamond Model of education approach reflects our ethos. We are forward-thinking, innovative and offer a personalised curriculum, allowing flexibility and support for each individual.
Our Head, Ms Oona Carlin has led the school from strength to strength in recent years.
Our GCSE results in 2018 are the best across all schools in our region with more than a quarter of grades awarded at 9 or A* – the highest possible grades. Our A Level results are excellent with 69.7% at A*-C (2018). What’s more, all of our students progressed on to their first-choice university. See our Alumni University Destinations to find out more.
Extra-curricular activities are offered in abundance via our extensive Enrichment Programme. Our campus provides river access to sailing, a 25-metre swimming pool, AstroTurf pitches, indoor and outdoor courts and pitches, an art studio, a fully functioning theatre with tiered seating, a dance studio and a refurbished Sixth Form suite with parking available. Ipswich High School is registered as a Tier 4 Child Sponsor with UK Visas and Immigration. We can admit international students from all over the world.
