We are thrilled to announce that Ipswich High School has been shortlisted for two Independent Schools of the Year 2019 awards. Social Mobility and Rising Star are the two award categories we’ve had success in, which is fantastic as they really demonstrate what we’re all about as a school. Reaching this stage is especially impressive as the number of entries has surpassed 2018’s awards by quite some margin.
The judges are due to meet at the end of summer to reach their decisions, with the results to be announced in October, so for now, we need to sit tight and wait to hear. Thank you so much to everyone at the school who has made it possible for us to be shortlisted, without all your hard work and dedication we wouldn’t be in a position to even enter such an award. You can find out more about the individual award categories below.
This award is for the school which most impresses the judges by the way in which it has made an inspirational and decisive contribution to social mobility in the past year. For the purposes of this award, social mobility is defined as ensuring that young people can fulfil aspirational choices in life, regardless of their social or economic background.
The winning school will demonstrate a philosophical recognition of the importance of social mobility to young people in their local or wider community and show evidence of the practical and positive impact their contribution has had on helping more young people have greater opportunities in life.
This award aims to highlight the excellence of the student experience in independent schools.
