IHS in the Community
Events With Local Schools
At IHS we have a strong ethos of positive engagement with local primary schools. In 2018 we held events for over 340 pupils across eight different primary schools taking part in many exciting activities. We also held an incredibly successful Football Festival during the Autumn Term, welcoming over 170 pupils and parents to the school from 11 local primary schools.
Our events with local schools have included:
- Maths Challenge
- Royal Institute Masterclasses for Year 5 and Year 9 pupils
- Sports events including Indoor Athletics, Tag Rugby, Cricket, Hockey and Cross Country
- Forest Schools Training
- A conference for local Design & Technology teachers
Events Planned for 2019
Following on from our successful calendar of events with in 2018, we already have a number of events confirmed to take place in 2019 including:
- Day of Diamond Dance
- Tag Ruby Tournament
- Religious Studies Candle Conferences
- Science Week with Year 10 pupils from local schools
- Latin and Maths Challenge Day
- Hockey Festival
Many of our pupils do fantastic work around the school and the wider local community, volunteering their time to help out at clubs, events and much more.
As part of our Senior School Enrichment Programme, we encourage pupils to volunteer and assist with Prep School activities, empowering pupils to improve their leadership skills and further develop the nurturing community here at the school.
Alongside their own volunteering commitments, pupils will often volunteer as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award.
The Local Community
We pride ourselves in our involvement with the local community in and around Woolverstone. Whether we are opening up the doors of Woolverstone Hall for Suffolk Day or holding remembrance services for Armistice Day, it is a joy to interact with and support our community.
