As we come to end of the Autumn term we can reflect on all the sporting successes that our pupils have achieved this term.

The pupils have been focusing on refining their slap shots and receiving the ball. During competitive play, they have worked on improving their positional play and defending skills. This has been evident in the fixtures that they have played. Our group attack is continuing to improve but we have been unfortunate in our ability to finish. All but a few pupils within the Prep School have taken part in a competitive match against another school as well as inter-house matches this term.

House Hockey
Year 5 and 6 pupils combined to form two teams per House to take part in the House Hockey competition. Congratulations to Centuars who won both the A and the B league and therefore won the overall title this year. Overall, Gryphons finished second, Dragons third and Unicorns in fourth.

We have started to look at other sports within the curriculum this term with two teams taking part in a local football tournament. We narrowly lost out on reaching the County Finals by conceding a golden goal in the final.

House Football
The Year 5’s took part in a House Indoor Football Competition in their Games lesson. Congratulations to the Centaurs team who won. The team consisted of Beatrice T., Charlotte H., Phoebe H. and Dora H.. Gryphons and Unicorns came joint second and Dragons fourth.

The highlight of the Netball season was travelling to Ipswich School to take part in a Netball Festival with a number of schools from the local area. The team settled into the competition quickly and won two out the three games.

The squad consisted of Ivy D., Charlotte G., Alva H., Fleur K., Sophia K., Agatha V. and Madeleine W.

On Monday 4th December all pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 took part in an afternoon of gymnastics and dance alongside pupils from Years 7 and 8. It was an opportunity for them to demonstrate skills they had developed and routines that they had choreographed over a very short period of time in class.

It was a fun filled afternoon consisting of 27 different pieces.

Cross Country
Eloise R. qualified for the second round of the Cross Country Championships, which were held at Culford School on Saturday 2nd December. Due to a fantastic run Eloise finished 27th and has once again qualified for the next round of the competition which is being held at Woodbridge School in January.

Year 6 took part in a House Dodgeball competition in preparation for a tournament that Ipswich High is taking part in next month. The pupils had great fun launching balls at each other to try to eliminate them from the game.

Congratulations to Centaurs who came first, Unicorns second, Gryphons third and Dragons fourth.

Years 5 and 6 move on to playing netball during the Spring Term whilst Years 3 and 4 move onto hockey.
