A Day in Sixth Form at Ipswich High School
One of the leading Sixth Forms in Essex and Suffolk, the Ipswich High School Sixth Form offers a unique, bespoke and mature environment in which students can flourish. A day at our Sixth Form is exciting, engaging and a great step towards all of our students’ futures.
Sixth formers are welcome to join us for breakfast from 8am (food is chargeable) and can stay after school from Monday to Thursday, from the end of the school day until 5:30pm, and Friday from the end of the school day until 5pm.
Sixth Form students begin their day at Registration with their tutor groups at 8:35am, before lessons and enrichment sessions commence.
Our students learn in a small group setting where they receive individual attention and support. This structure closely mimics the tutorial group style of top universities, where many of our students go on to study. This flexibility coupled with our approach to A Level teaching is unique amongst Sixth Forms in Essex and Suffolk. The school day includes academic and enrichment sessions and there are over 24 A Level options available to all of our students.
Our large and well-developed campus allows us to run a full range of sporting and outdoor activities that are impossible for other schools in Essex and Suffolk to match. A full calendar of academic and social activities bring together the Sixth Form community and give our students the opportunity to develop leadership and mentoring skills. Underpinning all of this is a true sense of fun and enjoyment, demonstrable by the friendships our students develop and the laughter they enjoy during these final two years at Ipswich High School.
The day finishes at 4:20pm, in time for the coaches which leave at 4:30pm, with the exception of Friday when school ends at 3:30pm. Any pupil not catching the School coach or using their own transport should be collected from the School at the end of each day.
