Staff

The quality of learning at IHS is testament to the expertise, dynamism and commitment of all the staff at the school. As a member school of the GDST our teachers, Heads of Department, members of the leadership teams along with Support Staff are able to share ideas, experience and best practice with fellow colleagues across the GDST, feeding into and enhancing the learning experience at Ipswich High.

Oona Carlin, Head of Ipswich High School

Ms Carlin joined Ipswich High School in September 2013 from her position as Deputy Head Academic at Putney High School GDST, one of the country's leading all girls' schools, where she was a key member of the senior leadership team for six years. Prior to Putney High, she was Head of Chemistry at The Royal Masonic School.

Ms Carlin studied biochemistry at Imperial College and has taught in a number of schools, including two years at The English School in Bogota, Colombia. For the past 13 years she has worked in independent girls' schools. Ms Carlin has played hockey since she was at school where she participated at county level. She still plays hockey regularly, recently captaining Windsor Ladies, and she regularly competes for Christchurch Ladies, Ipswich.

 Eileen Fisher, Head of Junior School

Mrs Eileen Fisher has been Head of the Junior School at Ipswich High School since September 2009. She trained at the University of Chichester where she studied a four year B. Ed English Degree.

Previously, Mrs Fisher was Deputy Principal (Head of Juniors) at St. Margaret's School in Edinburgh. She has also gained leadership and teaching experience in various maintained sector schools in in Suffolk and East Lothian. Mrs Fisher has a passion for outdoor education and completed her John Muir Award when working in Scotland. She has recently qualified as a Forest School Leader and enjoys working in the stunning woodland area that Ipswich High School provides.

 Rob Hastings, Director of Sixth Form

Mr Hastings joined Ipswich High School in Spring 2016 as Head of Sixth Form. Mr Hastings gained his PGCE at Homerton College, Cambridge after previously studying English at De Montfort University, Leicester.

Mr Hastings was Head of Sixth Form at Bloxham School, Oxfordshire, teaching English and spending 4 years as an Assistant Housemaster. Mr Hastings has a passion for all types of sport especially cricket, golf and rugby. He has attended various Heads of Sixth Form conferences in London over the past 18 months as well as "Preparing for Senior Management'' training.
