Why choose Ipswich High School for Girls?
Ipswich High School for Girls leads the way in girls' education with a forward thinking, innovative and personalised curriculum, allowing flexibility and support for each individual. We provide a strong, vibrant and thriving community for girls aged 3-18 allowing our pupils to flourish at all stages of their school education.
The school is situated on a stunning
84 acre site in Woolverstone, just five miles outside the County Town of Ipswich. Our home is Woolverstone Hall, a Palladian Grade I listed mansion built in 1776 for William Berners which stands on the banks of the river Orwell. Ipswich High School for Girls was founded in 1878 and moved to Woolverstone Hall in 1992 to give our students the opportunity to use the space, traditional buildings and modern facilities to enhance their education.
Being an all-girls school is fundamental to our identity: we are deeply proud of this but not defined by it! As one of the 26 schools of the Girls' Day School Trust
, Ipswich High School is uniquely placed to offer your daughter every opportunity to fulfil her potential in every field and at every age. Without enforced gender boundaries, a
education provides a liberating and enabling environment, where girls can achieve their best.
Our Head, Ms Oona Carlin has led the school from strength to strength in recent years. Our GCSE and A Level results are outstanding, our girls choose to study in Russell Group or other selective universities and our programme of enrichment
means our students can follow their passions and interests within our school day. Please see our University Destinations

Girls coming to the United Kingdom without family
Ipswich High School is registered as a Tier 4 Child Sponsor with UK Visas and Immigration. We can admit international students from all over the world and are expecting a small number of overseas girls to start at the school this year.
As we are a day school our international students live with an approved, suitable host family in the local area and this is arranged by an approved homestay provider who works with parents and students to find an ideal home for each individual.
We are happy to consider individual applicants to the school who must follow our standard admissions procedures. Please see our Admissions Guide
or contact our Registrar Rebecca on 01473 201034 or firstname.lastname@example.org
We will also work with international education agencies and will accept applications from reputable organisations where we can work under a GDST agreement.
