John Pickering (FCA), Chairman

John is a retired Chartered Accountant and Senior Partner of The Scrutton Bland Group. He specialised in owner managed businesses, agriculture and high net worth individuals.He has three daughters, Ellie, Jo and Fran who are now in their 20's and were all students at The High School.

Richard Bertram


Richard is a Senior Surveyor at Fenn Wright, Ipswich, with expertise in valuation and professional work. A member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Richard has extensive experience of working in private London practices. He lives in Suffolk with his family.

Lesley Watt


Lesley has worked in the NHS for most of her working life, a career in which she has been involved in constant change and reorganisation. She has worked as a manager at the Ipswich Hospital and for the last 17 years has been a Practice Manager running two general practices in Ipswich. Lesley has a daughter and son, and her daughter was a pupil at Ipswich High School for Girls.

 

Dr Lisa Jardine-Wright

Dr Lisa Jardine-Wright is the educational outreach officer at the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. She is also lecturer of mathematics for first year Natural Science students and a Director of Studies for Physics at Churchill College, Cambridge. Lisa began her career as a student in Natural Science at Trinity College, Cambridge and graduated with a masters in Natural Sciences. As a postdoctoral researcher Lisa worked as a consultant for the Royal Observatory, Greenwich on their new astronomy galleries and also as a science writer for the Financial Times. Lisa has also regularly written book reviews for The Times Higher Educational Supplement, Science Journal and consults for BBC News Magazine. In her present role as outreach officer, Lisa works with students ages 11-19 from all over the UK and beyond by developing and organising programmes that bring school students and teachers into her department as well as travelling out to give workshops and lectures. Music forms a large part of Lisa's extra-curricular time and she is a keen brass band musician - both playing and directing.


Heather Mann

Heather Mann is an Old Girl of Ipswich High School, Westerfield Road. Heather initially worked for twenty years in the shipping industry and is a graduate member of the British International Freight Association. Latterly, she was Sales & Marketing Director for Fred. Olsen Agencies and the first female Board Member of a Fred. Olsen UK company. Heather was also a member trustee of the Fred. Olsen Pension Fund. For the past ten years Heather has worked as a Director in her family group of leisure marina and property businesses based at the Ipswich Waterfront. She is a graduate member of the Institute of Residential Property Management and holds a BA(Hons) in Marketing. Heather is a keen sailor, skier and scuba diver. She is married to Martin, who is a Management Consultant and Chair of The Board of Special Olympics Great Britain (SOGB). They live in Ipswich with their young daughter.

Ann Monks


Ann is a professional marketer with 30 years' experience in marketing communications and business development, principally in financial services. She has held roles at KPMG and, most recently, as Marketing Partner at Smith & Williamson, where she worked for 20 years. In addition to operational management, her focus has been on effectively supporting the delivery of marketing services to meet the demands of private clients, corporates and professional practices. Ann has served on various UK and international marketing committees and is an advisory panel member of the Marketing Directors' Network and past London Chair of the Professional Marketing Forum. She is a Trustee of East Anglia's Children's Hospices. Ann and her husband divide their time between homes in Sibton and Ipswich and enjoy supporting activities in Suffolk's thriving community.


Nick Banks

Nick is a chartered accountant and partner and director of The Scrutton Bland Group, an independent multi disciplinary financial services organisation providing accountancy, taxation, independent financial advice and insurance broking services. He lives in Ipswich and his daughter Megan is a pupil at The High School..

Dr Gavin Devereux


 

Gavin is an Associate Professor, and the Director of Sport Sciences and Coaching at the University of Suffolk. Following his PhD in the physiology of blood pressure regulation, Gavin has gained extensive experience in clinical exercise science research, and applied sport science support in a number of professional sports. He has held lecturing positions at a number of universities, and now lives in Suffolk with his family.
